Get on Track with SportsTrain

Sport has the power to engage, unite and challenge people in an enormous variety of ways. Sport is a way of enhancing the community, developing citizenship and helping change the lives of many. 

With the Olympics awarded to London for 2012, sport will gain greater significance throughout the UK in the next few years. The Sport and Leisure industry is already one of the fastest growing industries in the UK today, with many opportunities to train in its field and a wide range of employment opportunities and career pathways to work towards.

Whether you are currently a member of a club, an established volunteer, or someone who is hoping to make their future career in the Sport and Leisure industry, SportsTrain is designed to help you identify 'where you want to be' and to find the best route to help you get there.

The experience and training that you can access on the SportsTrain programme - from short introductory workshops to full-time higher education courses - will help you to meet your ¬personal goals. In helping to raise the standards in sport and leisure you will be contributing to our local sporting provision.

SportsTrain is a partnership project devised by the University of Derby Buxton, High Peak and Derbyshire Dales Borough Councils, High Peak CVS, Derbyshire Dales CVS and Buxton Community School, a specialist Sports College.  The project is supported by Derbyshire Learning and Skills Council and partially funded by the European Social Fund
